Pupil Premium & Recovery Premium

Pupil Premium is allocated to a school to support the education of children from low-income families who are eligible for free school meals (FSM) and children in Local Authority care. It was introduced in April 2011. The government extended eligibility for the Pupil Premium in 2012-2013 to pupils who have been eligible for free school meals at any point in the last six years (Ever 6) and to children of service families.
In the 2021 to 2022, 2022 to 2023 and 2023 to 2024 academic years schools will also receive a Recovery Premium grant to support pupils whose education has been impacted by coronavirus.

NATIONAL AIMS

The aims of this grant are to:
  • Address inequalities
  • Tackle disadvantage
  • Reach those pupils who need it most
  • Reduce the attainment gap
  • Enable more pupils from disadvantaged backgrounds to get to top Universities
OUR KEY PRIORITIES

On a continuous basis we look to address inequalities and tackle disadvantage by focusing on targeted additional support strategies resulting in every student, however financially disadvantaged, being able to:
  • improve their levels of attainment and progress
  • close attainment gaps relative to school averages
  • have full access to our curriculum
  • have access to our extra-curricular provision
The school regularly monitors and evaluates the impact on each student. This does not only focus on academic gains, but also on self-confidence, engagement, attendance, behaviour and other areas identified.
